Most importantly, this is a legitimate email from Computer Services.

Long term storage of audio and video files on your P drive is strongly discouraged. Media files are generally larger than other types of files and do not change over time. Which means that the backup process will back up your unchanged — and large! — files on a regular basis, taking up space in both the P drive as well as the backup.

Video (and audio) files can be stored in Ensemble, the college video storage service. You can still download the file from Ensemble, if the original file is needed, as well as view the file on the web at any time.

If you do not have an Ensemble account, send an email to helpdesk@genesee.edu and we will be glad to set one up for you.
